This Cookie and Storage Policy ("Policy") explains how CertLabPro uses client-side storage technologies when you access and use our website at certlabpro.com and our mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"). This Policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.
By using the Service, you consent to the use of local storage technologies as described in this Policy.
CertLabPro uses two categories of client-side storage on the web. The mobile applications use only local device storage and do not set any cookies.
First-party cookies (web only): Google Analytics 4 (GA4) sets two first-party cookies in your browser to maintain an anonymous client identifier and session state. The full list with lifetimes is in Section 2. These cookies are first-party (set by certlabpro.com) and contain no personally identifiable information.
Local storage (web and mobile): On the web, the browser's Web Storage API (localStorage) persists your preferences and study data between sessions. On iOS and Android, the equivalent role is filled by React Native's AsyncStorage (or platform-specific secure storage). All locally stored data stays on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.
We do NOT use: third-party tracking cookies; advertising cookies; web beacons or tracking pixels beyond the GA4 first-party cookies above; fingerprinting or device identification technologies; or any server-side session management that stores user data remotely.
The Service stores three categories of data on the web: necessary first-party cookies, GA4 cookies (only with your consent), and local-storage data. The mobile applications use only local device storage and set no cookies.
Necessary first-party cookies (web only). These are exempt from consent under ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3) because they are strictly necessary for the site to function:
certlabpro_consent β Records your cookie consent choices. Lifetime: 1 year. Format: a URL-encoded set of category flags (e.g., v=1&a=1&m=0&p=1&ts=...). Contains no personally identifiable information. Without this cookie, the consent banner could not remember your choice.
certlabpro_locale β Your selected interface language (e.g., "es", "de"). Lifetime: 1 year. Read by the server to render pages in the correct language on first request.
certlabpro_theme_mode β Your selected display theme ("light", "dark", or "system"). Lifetime: 1 year. Used to apply the correct theme before first paint to prevent a flash of incorrect colors.
GA4 cookies (web only, set only when you grant analytics consent):
_ga β Anonymous client identifier. Lifetime: 2 years. Used by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors. Contains no personally identifiable information.
_ga_<container_id> β Session state for Google Analytics. Lifetime: 2 years. The <container_id> portion is the GA4 measurement ID. Contains no personally identifiable information.
Local storage data (web and mobile). All storage keys are prefixed with "certlabpro_" for easy identification:
certlabpro_results β Your exam results, including scores, timestamps, and pass/fail status for each completed exam simulation.
certlabpro_notes_{certId} β Study notes you create for each certification.
certlabpro_resources_{certId} β External resource links you save for each certification.
certlabpro_language β Your selected interface language.
certlabpro_theme β Your selected display theme (light, dark, or system).
certlabpro_srs_{certId} β Spaced repetition scheduling data, including card intervals, ease factors, and review dates.
certlabpro_streak_{certId} β Personal best records for streak and sprint modes.
certlabpro_qhistory_{certId} β Question-level answer history used by Cram, Weakest Link, and SRS modes.
certlabpro_mastery_{certId} β Mastery progress data for the Weakest Link study mode.
No data beyond these categories is stored, and none of the local-storage data is transmitted to any server.
We use local storage exclusively for the following purposes: enabling core application functionality, such as saving exam progress and study data; preserving user preferences, including language and theme settings, between sessions; providing personalized study features, such as spaced repetition scheduling and performance-based question prioritization; and displaying historical data, including exam scores, activity calendars, and progress statistics.
We do not use local storage for advertising, user profiling, behavioral tracking, or any purpose unrelated to the direct functionality of the Service.
You have full control over both locally stored data and the GA4 cookies set on the web, and may delete them at any time.
On Web (Desktop and Mobile Browsers): Open your browser's Settings or Preferences. Navigate to Privacy, Site Settings, or Storage. Locate data for certlabpro.com. Select "Clear Data" or "Delete" for the site β this removes both local-storage entries AND the GA4 first-party cookies. Alternatively, open your browser's Developer Tools (F12), navigate to the Application or Storage tab, and manually delete individual localStorage entries or cookies.
To opt out of Google Analytics specifically without clearing local storage, install Google's official "Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on" available from https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This add-on prevents GA4 from running in your browser across all sites that use it.
On iOS: Uninstalling the CertLabPro app will remove all locally stored data. There is no in-app option to selectively clear data. The mobile app does not use GA4 cookies.
On Android: Go to Settings > Apps > CertLabPro > Storage > Clear Data. Alternatively, uninstall the app. The mobile app does not use GA4 cookies.
Please note that deleting stored data is permanent and irreversible. All exam history, study notes, progress, and preferences will be lost.
CertLabPro uses one third-party service on the website: Google Analytics 4 (GA4), accessed via Google Tag Manager (GTM). GA4 receives only the anonymized page-view metadata described in our Privacy Policy (page paths, referrer, anonymized IP, browser, operating system, viewport, locale, region) and sets the two first-party cookies described in Section 2. GA4 does not receive your study data β exam answers, scores, notes, and progress stay on your device. The mobile applications do not use GA4 or any other third-party analytics.
We do not use any of the following: Meta (Facebook) Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking, LinkedIn Insight, or other advertising trackers; Hotjar, FullStory, or any session-recording tool; Intercom, Drift, or any third-party chat widget that tracks users; or social-media sharing buttons that track browsing behavior.
The only other network requests made by the Service are to load the application itself and, on mobile, to communicate with Apple's App Store or Google Play for in-app purchase processing.
We may update this Cookie and Storage Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
